A Space for Dance
and its Contaminants
La Poderosa
LA PODEROSA- A SPACE FOR DANCE AND ITS CONTAMINANTS – IT’S A SPACE FOR CREATION AND CULTURAL AGITATION DIRECTED AND MANAGED BY LAS SANTAS.
In 2000, Bea Fernández, Mónica Muntaner and Silvia Sant Funk established the collective Las Santas, following an urgency to find ways to continue developing their artistic practices while tearing down rigid conceptions around dance and its various manifestations. Shortly after they founded their own work space La Poderosa, which became a place to move the body and the thought. From La Poderosa, they encourage and agitate the cultural scene around them.

LAS SANTAS IS A COLLECTIVE OF INDEPENDENT PERFORMERS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS COMPOSED BY SILVIA SANT FUNK, MÒNICA MUNTANER AND BEATRIZ FERNÁNDEZ, WHO SHARE AN URGENT NEED TO WORK ON NEW WAYS OF CREATING – WITH FLEXIBILITY AND WITH VARIOUS FOCUSES – IN THE FIELD OF PERFORMING ARTS.
Las Santas are also the Artistic Directors and Managers of La Poderosa, a space for dance and its contaminants, from where they aim to stimulate their immediate cultural environment. An important part of their work is focused on creating spaces to promote thought, action and exhibition for young, and not so young, artists that are interested in the new languages around the body.
Since their beginnings, Las Santas have created small format works, solos and group pieces under formats that may vary according to the space the show.

- A space to support projects that stimulate creation and bring dance closer to new generations, with pedagogical activities and a series of informal show called IN.
- A space to develop creative projects and research on dance and the languages of the body.
- A space to host stage performances and indefinable proposals, where contamination, ambivalence, fugue and nothingness are most welcome.
- A space for proximity.
- A space for experimentation of all that which comes before the stage performance production.
- A work space for Las Santas.
